Eventually, Lowe hired a mathematician from Columbia University, Carl Leffler, and set to him the task of increasing the amount of cards and number combinations used for the game.
Bingo became an explosive success, being played all over the US by the 1940’s. Lowe then began charging a single dollar a year to each of his competitors for permission to use the name “Bingo”.
Today, Bingo can be found just about everywhere and in many variations. Churches, Vegas, the Red Cross and many more employ the game, some for profit and others as a means to raise funds, but one thing is true across the board: Bingo is one of the longest lived games of its kind and growing in popularity exponentially by the day.
